Terrence Wendel, Director, Alberta Education, is one provincial
employee who has benefited from Executive Education and Lifelong
Learning’s programs, and the leadership skills he learned go well with
his new certificate.
A positive outlook appears to be returning to the Alberta business
world after two quarters of economic volatility had prompted
province-wide sentiment to slide.
Congratulations to Mike Gibbins, Karim Jamal and Tom Scott, and seven
alumni who were honoured by the Institute of Chartered Accountants at
the Merit Awards Gala in Calgary June 19.
In 2003, the Harvard Business Review asked management writers,
gurus and consultants whose ideas influenced them. Jim March, Professor
Emeritus, Stanford University, was second on the list, behind Peter
Drucker. On June 9 Dean Mike Percy presented the Honourary Degree of
Doctor of Laws to James G. March. Dr. March’s poignant, poetic, and
practical convocation address, entitled “Wear Sunscreen”, can be found
here.
The School warmly congratulates Irv and Dianne Kipnes for receiving
the Honourary Degrees of Doctor of Laws at the U of A Convocation on
June 8. Irv is a member of our
Business Advisory Council and the School recently established the
Dianne and Irving Kipnes Chair in Finance and Development.
